Florida Trail, Olustee section |
|
South from the Olustee trailhead, carefully cross the railroad tracks and US 90 to access the Olustee / Lake Butler section. This 17.6-mile section of trail roughly follows an old railroad route through pine plantations, with a mix of young plantings, older pines, and open clear cuts marked with blazed posts.
Like the Osceola, there’s a lot of water. Since this is private timberland, there are hills and dips left behind by logging operations.
DIRECTIONS: Follow US 41 south from White Springs to Lake City. Turn left on US 90. Drive 15 miles east. Turn left into Olustee Battlefield. Make an immediate left into the trailhead after you cross the railroad tracks. Carefully cross US 90 to the trail sign to head south. |
